A HUGE heartfelt thank you! How your donations for LGI’s Cardio/Neuro unit have been spent

HR180 – the HR superteam from Garforth, Leeds – want to thank all who contributed to our Cake Away fundraiser in November 2016, in order to buy a giant connect-4 style game for children visiting the cardio/neuro outpatients at the LGI. Here’s what happened next…

Following the incredible success of our Cake Away, we are sending out a huge thank you to the businesses and workers of East Garforth. By purchasing yummy homemade goodies (cakes, buns, tray bakes and makes plus handmade sweeties!) last November saw our target of £150 smashed by an incredible 5 times! With raffle donations from Yorkshire Carnegie Rugby Union and Leeds Rhinos Rugby League too we could not have done it without your support.

Claire Morley-Jones, MD of HR180 Ltd, says, “This is a cause close to HR180’s heart as our Finance Manager, Ange Britton, has family members affected by the heart condition Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Ange’s family has had amazing help and support from Dr Cowan, Kath Ashcroft and all the team at the LGI so asked us to help the refurbishment of the waiting room in the Outpatients Department, especially something teens would enjoy. We suggested the giant Connect 4-style game and the LGI were thrilled”

We are ready to deliver a bumper pack of gifts and thought it would be fun to let your see what we have managed to buy for the children’s and young persons’ area of the waiting room at the Cardiac/Neuro outpatients unit at the LGI. We will also be giving a cheque for £161 towards the restoration of the much loved and played with Rocking Horse.

Total raised was: £786 and this splits as follows (with the rides on, mat and Mega 4 game already in situ.)

Senior Sister Judith Shackleton says, “We cannot thank Claire, Ange and the team at HR180 enough for such a fantastic fundraising effort which has resulted in such a positive improvement to the paediatric waiting room within the Cardiac and Neuro Outpatients Department here at the LGI. The new toys have significantly improved the experience of the young patients that attend the department every day. We are extremely grateful and very humbled that people have so generously given their time, effort and funds to help us in this way”
